Whose top cop?
Is it me or is David Stern the smartest Commissioner of the three major American sports? You have Football, which has it images problems and the occasional shoot em up moments, Baseball, which has been brought to its knees by the steroids scandals and seems to have a new person get caught for lying about substances every two days. Then there is Basketball who obviously has image problems and everything that football gets, but somehow they are able to either get rid of the story very quickly or find some way to downplay what has already been written. With the exception of the Referee scandel that got attention all summer, their really hasn't been an a real over the top scandal in David stern's reign as the commish. Ya you can say the ref scandal was over the top, but does'nt it seem odd that it just went away so quickly. Where as Roger Goodell had to deal with the spygate scandel, and let the government drag one of his most prized team of the decade through the mud. And to be honest Goodell did little to nothing to get the that story out of the papers. Sure he fined the team and the coach, but Stern would made that story go away. People all over the sports world are calling for Bud Selig job as a result of the steriod scandel. Must I say more? Not only has Stern turned the league away from their current issue but its like it never happened. Why is it like that? It's really because of the fact of how he potrayed the situation when confronted by the media. He totally downplayed the situation and told everyone that it was only one rogue referee. While it was discussed that their could possibly more refs involved, Stern treated it as if it was minor situation. Whenever asked, he never faltered, he just stuck with the same story. Now here we are today, its the friday of the allstar game and Stern is celebrating his twenty fitfh year as Commishioner of the NBA. Genius! While most would have crumbled, Stern refused to let one man take down his league. Selig would rather hide out then protect his player in times of crisis. Goddell couldn't keep the government away from his league. So would'nt one make the case that David Stern is top cop in the world of proffesional sports. I sure would.

How about Roger Goodell taking a pay cut in todays frivolous economy to save jobs in the NFL!? He can't touch David Stern's development to the NBA, but still...
